iTAN’s Top 5 SoCal Hikes:
#1 Hollywood Sign
This hike starts in the Bronson Caves—the Batman batcaves from the 1960’s. That alone is enough to make it awesome and dad-worthy! It’s a fairly easy hike with epic selfie potential once you get close to the sign. Location: Los Angeles
#2 Bridge to Nowhere
This is a challenging hike packed with the kind of history and mystery that will make for a Father’s Day you’ll talk about for years. Roughly 10 miles roundtrip, the hike goes over the river, through the woods, and even offers an opportunity for swimming—and bungee jumping! Location: Los Angeles (San Gabriel Mountains)
#3 Cowles Mountain
Conquer the tallest point in San Diego with Dad! This dog-friendly hike is just 3 miles, and tends to get crowded—so for sure go early. Considered a hike of medium difficulty. Location: San Diego
#4 Potato Chip Rock
Can you say best Father’s Day photo opp, ever!? Potato Chip is at the peak of Mt. Woodson, and is about 8 miles roundtrip. Its location in Poway means desert and potential hotness so, again, start early! Location: San Diego (Poway)
#5 Torrey Pines State Reserve
Plan to spend the day! The 1500-acre reserve spans woods and ocean, with hikes for every skill level. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy when you and Dad reach the beach. Location: San Diego (La Jolla)
Whichever hike you choose, be sure to pack plenty of water and snacks! And of course, take tons of pics.
