Tis’ the season to stay in shape, SoCal beauties! Our 2015 iTAN Models have gifted us with their favorite tips on how to stay fit during the busy holiday season and help us hold on to our fitness regimens. Our models have helped us figure out how we can have our Thanksgiving pie and squat, too.
1. How do you stay fit through the holiday season?
Alejandro Bataille: One of the things I’ve found to be extremely crucial is moderation. For most of us, the holidays mean getting together with friends and family, and often foods that aren’t the healthiest are easy to reach. Although I like to enjoy a little, dieting during the season is extremely difficult which is why I recommend moderation. Think small portions! Smaller portions of something can fulfill your cravings without allowing you to overindulge. In addition, keep a consistent workout routine that will help burn the extra caloric intake. That way you can balance your diet with your workout.
Adam Evans: I continue exercising with my workout partners and take part in outdoor activities like mountain biking and rock climbing.
2. What advice do you have for someone looking to get into fitness?
Alejandro Bataille: I think the most important thing to keep in mind when facing a new challenge is to keep your eyes on the horizon. Don’t expect instant gratification. Keep your goals straightforward and realistic. As long as you’re moving toward completing your goals, you’ll be fine!
Adam Evans: Find people you can work out with and some fun, active hobbies. Eat healthy and in good proportions; simple enough!
3. Do you follow or have any dietary suggestions or recommendations?
Alejandro Bataille: I like having a glass of warm water with lemon on an empty stomach in the mornings and having a full cup of apple cider vinegar to balance my body’s ph.
Adam Evans: I enjoy chicken or fish. Rice and veggies are the way to go for staple meals. Adding some variation during week is good, too.
4. What’s your favorite workout routine?
Alejandro Bataille: Oh, leg day all day! Legs are one of the most important muscle groups to train. There are many leg exercises that help strengthen your core and maintain muscular balance throughout your body.
Adam Evans: Calisthenics or bodyweight exercises, with high intensity intervals are a great way to gain strength in combination with cardio.
