Pumpkins & Beauty: The Only DIYs You Need this Fall

Posted on October 28th, 2016

Throughout Southern California we have two unofficial seasons: summer and a little less summer. However, “fall” is officially here and we’ll take pumpkin everything! If you have some leftover pumpkin (we know we will), spice up your beauty routine as a way to welcome and celebrate the season. Check out our three favorite pumpkin beauty DIYs and fall in love with autumn!

Pumpkin Body Scrub
One of our own favorite recipes has been passed down by a member of the iTAN family. Customize your pumpkin body scrub with sugar or salt! Sugar granules are smaller, less abrasive and are best suited for sensitive skin. Salt is more coarse and works best for normal to dry skin. Add the ingredients below for a body scrub that’s almost good enough to eat:

For Sensitive Skin

  • ¼ cup pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup sea salt

For Normal to Dry Skin

  • ¼ cup pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 cup sea salt
  • ½ cup brown sugar

Pumpkin Spice Body Butter via Fitnessista
If you’re out of pumpkin leftovers, we have you covered too! San Diego fitness instructor and body trainer Fitnessista makes her own pumpkin spice body butter using simple ingredients like organic coconut oil, vitamin E and pumpkin scented essential oils. All you have to do is mix everything in your standing or hand mixer for seven to eight minutes! Since this recipe doesn’t use perishable ingredients, it can double as a self-pampering treat or holiday gift. Full recipe here.

Pumpkin Face Mask via Allure
Model approved? Yes, please! This recipe calls for all natural and whole ingredients. Making a pumpkin face mask is easy; Simply blend a small slice of pumpkin and whisk in an egg, honey and a few drops of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Customize your facial with apple cider vinegar to detoxify your skin and reduce inflammation, or add lemon for brightening. Full recipe here.

Save your pumpkin puree after carving season and fall into beauty. Enjoy!
